We are immensely thrilled to announce the IRS has formally approved the temporary use of electronic signatures on a number of tax forms signed and postmarked on or after August 28, 2020, including Form 2678, Employer/Payer Appointment of Agent! Electronic signatures for employer AND agent are currently allowed on Form 2678 through December 31, 2021.
The landmark notice from the IRS is available here. According to the IRS, “Electronic and digital signatures appear in many forms when printed and may be created by many different technologies. No specific technology is required for this purpose during this temporary deviation.”
