Fiscal Policy Institute warns CDPAP (Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program) plan could force New Yorkers off of better insurance

New York’s new CDPAP plan may force workers to lose health coverage and indirectly cut wages, according to the Fiscal Policy Institute. In their new report, they add to the chorus of voices pushing for an April 1 Department of Health deadline to be paused or pushed back. A spokesperson for the governor’s office said this misleading report ignores a serious problem with the current CDPAP system, thousands of full-time workers have no health insurance because their fiscal intermediaries simply don’t offer it.
