In an unprecedented move, the New York state Senate and Assembly revealed their one-house budgets over the weekend with provisions to fully fund the Fair Pay for Home Care Act. The bill would raise the minimum wage for home care workers (including consumer-directed workers) to up to $22.50 an hour. Home health aides currently make as little as $13.20 an hour upstate.
