Maryland health department weighs ending provision that gives more flexibility to caregivers of people with disabilities during COVID

Caregivers and family of those with disabilities are worried the Maryland Department of Health may be about to end a provision early that gives them more flexibility in how services are billed for and delivered during the coronavirus pandemic. Known as Appendix K, the temporary rule allows family members to act as paid support staff; enables providers to conduct services virtually; permits services inside a person’s home; and authorizes easier billing standards for remote and in-person care.
