A matter of race and place: Recommendations for building equitable policies for Californians with intellectual & developmental disabilities
DVU convened the 2024 Race and Place Conference to gather, refine, and stress-test our community’s shared understanding of what needs to change in California’s developmental services system.
This after-conference report represents part of DVU’s contribution to public comment on the Master Plan. It delivers a set of concise, actionable recommendations for our state’s systems that support people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). In addition to collating and distilling input from conference attendees, we asked self-advocates and professionals to review the recommendations detailed below for clarity, substance, and relevance to ongoing discussions.
