Bringing Providers, Consumers, and Workers Together to Build Investment in HCBS

More than any other health program, self-direction fosters joint advocacy between provider agencies, consumers, and workers. Over the past two years, CDPAANYS and Hand-In-Hand have worked together as part of the New York Caring Majority to build an intersectional coalition to advance an unprecedented investment in home and community-based services in the state. That effort brought together home care associations, large providers, consumer groups, and worker rights organizations in a common effort to strengthen and improve the system that would benefit everyone. How did they do it and why should you? They looked to answer these questions and others in this informative session on advocacy, coalition building, and trust building during the 2022 National Self-DIrection Conference.
