Strengthening Information & Assistance in Self-Direction Programs

States vary widely in their approaches to structuring and paying for information and assistance (I&A) in self-direction. Whether delivered by a support broker or a case manager, I&A services are available to help people learn to manage the various responsibilities of self-directing. There are few resources available on best practices for designing I&A in self-direction. Without robust I&A support, states will struggle to implement self-direction at scale. To meet this need, with generous sponsorship from Centene, Applied Self-Direction has launched a new initiative to develop more national resources on I&A design and implementation. This 2022 National Self-Direction Conference session provided an overview of the progress of this initiative thus far and attendees had the opportunity to provide feedback on forthcoming efforts.
