Self-Direction Conference

About

Applied Self-Direction hosts the only national conference dedicated to self-direction. The National Self-Direction Conference brings together state and federal government, managed care organizations, Financial Management Services entities, people and families who self-direct, support brokers, and other key stakeholders from across the country to collaborate on one goal: advancing self-direction.

We offer the National Self-Direction Conference as an in-person event every other year. Our next in-person National Self-Direction Conference will be held on March 14-15, 2024 at the Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland. With interest in self-direction at an all-time high, we have begun to offer a virtual conference series during the in-person “off-year” to reach a broader audience.

We know what you’re thinking: Not another virtual conference! But the 2023 Self-Direction Conference: Virtual Series is not your average virtual conference. We are not trying to recreate our traditional conference in a virtual setting. There are many elements of an in-person conference—networking, exhibit booths, a full day of sessions—that just don’t work on a virtual platform.

Sessions will be offered twice a week throughout March and April from 2-3 PM (EST). By scheduling our sessions over time, you can participate without blocking-off extended time on your calendar or spending your whole day in front of the computer.

Our virtual series will offer the same caliber of sessions as our in-person conference with a variety of speakers including federal agencies, state programs, individuals who self-direct, and other experts in the field. In fact, our virtual series sessions include an even wider array of speakers given the flexible scheduling and ease of presenting virtually. And our favorite part- thanks to our generous sponsors, the 2023 Self-Direction Conference: Virtual Series is FREE to attend!

Sign-up for our mailing list to receive the latest information related to the conference.

Sponsors

There are a lot of advantages to sponsoring a virtual conference series (with no virtual exhibit booths- we promise!)

  • The 2023 Self-Direction Conference: Virtual Series will last several weeks, rather than the two days of our in-person conference. Every email we send during the series will include Premier and Diamond Sponsor logos.
  • Each conference session will be advertised to our mailing list of over 5,600 contacts, rather than focused on the 400 registrants who attend our in-person conferences. The logos of our Premier and Diamond sponsors will be included in each advertisement.
  • The majority of sessions can include up to 500 attendees. Premier and Diamond Sponsors will receive the registrant information for each individual session.
  • There is no additional travel, registration costs, or time out of the office for your team to attend the conference series.

2023 Self-Direction Conference: Virtual Series sponsorships offer unique opportunities for your organization to brand, market, and advertise- boosting your visibility to a larger audience than ever before! View the sponsorship prospectus

Showcase

As an integral part of the 2023 Self-Direction Conference: Virtual Series, we offer the Tool & Tech to Self-Direct Showcase. These stand-alone showcase sessions are a chance for vendors to show off, explain, and demonstrate their tools or technology with an audience of state Medicaid administrators, Financial Management Services providers, managed care organizations, people who self-direct, and other Medicaid stakeholders.

There are many advantages to hosting a showcase during our virtual conference series:

  • You pick the day and time of your showcase that works for your team, without competing against other conference sessions.
  • Your showcase will be advertised to our mailing list of over 5,600 contacts, rather than focused on the 400 registrants who attend our in-person conferences.
  • Your showcase can include up to 500 attendees. Premier showcases will receive the names, organizations, titles, and email addresses of all registrants.
  • The virtual conference series is FREE to attend. We will advertise your showcase on our website, social media accounts, and general mailing list. Our 2021 virtual series attracted over 1,400 registrants, including many state employees, people with lived experience, and support brokers who are typically unable to attend our in-person conference.
  • There is no additional travel, registration costs, or time out of the office for your team to participate.

We encourage anyone with a product or service that supports self-direction to be a part of the showcase. We anticipate showcases to include electronic visit verification (EVV) solutions, software and hardware products, technology to improve home and community living, and tools that support independence.
